Scenario Maker: Study the Boeing 737 Like You’re in the Captain’s Seat
This app changes everything.
Forget passive manual reading — Scenario Maker puts you in the seat, facing real-world failures with real-world complexity. Weather, MEL items, route constraints, multiple failures — it’s all there. This is how you should study the 737.
Learn by Doing, Not Just Reading
Traditional study means memorizing systems and hoping they’ll translate in the sim or on the line.
Scenario Maker flips that. You’ll study in context: what’s failing, where you are, what systems are impacted, and what decisions need to be made.
You’re not just learning — you’re gaining experience. Whether you’re preparing for a sim check or just want to deepen your systems knowledge, this is built for you.
Scenario Maker is especially valuable for understanding and applying Boeing 737 Non-Normal procedures in the operational context they were meant for.
How does it work? Imagine you’re in the Captain’s seat of an imaginary flight, with all the variables of weather, route, your location along that route, and current MEL (Minimum Equipment List) items specific for that flight set out in front of you. We “set the scene” by dealing four cards randomly, allowing you to construct an entire scenario with up to four failures in the course of playing out that one scenario. And there’s many more scenarios after that.
Based on the original card game developed by the author, that consisted of 144 double-sided cards, four ‘Cards’ are dealt, each having four unique sections. By referring to section 1 from the first card, section 2 from the second card, etc, a randomly generated, well-defined situation is created, putting you into that scenario. You then reveal each Non-Normal by tapping the backs of each of the cards in turn.
And if you’re studying a particular system, you can filter the deck to just the Systems you’re interested in.
Sync your deck with a study partner and you both can generate identical sequences to work on as a team.
Good Luck!
