Eclipses are getting closer and Moonlitt 2.4 is ready!

The 2026 solar and lunar eclipses are approaching. This update introduces new eclipse tools and a clearer interface to help you understand when, where, and how to observe them.

*Lunar and Solar Eclipses*

Explore eclipses in more detail with three new viewing modes, plus several refinements:

- Focus: Preview eclipse appearance and colors with realistic, minute-by-minute animations.
- Map: See which regions of Earth will experience full or partial visibility.
- AR: Visualize the eclipse path in the sky and check for potential obstructions.
- More precise and visually refined eclipse previews.
- New dynamic countdown to the next eclipse in the details view.
- Redesigned eclipse details for better legibility and performance.

With the help of Liquid Glass, we have given even more space to the app’s content, while keeping key features easy to reach:

- Moon Names and Traditions, Supermoons, Micromoons, and Eclipses are now part of the main UI, with a dynamic indicator for quick access.
- Compass is now always visible.
- Layers are always accessible at the top of the screen.
- Improved layout on larger displays.
- Redesigned onboarding experience.


Lastly, some more maintenance changes:
- Updated internal components, including core Eclipse engine for improved precision for future events.
- Smoother performance with reduced stuttering across devices.
- It is now possible to enable notifications when location access is not granted.
- Added Vietnamese localization.
- Several visual tweaks and fixes.
- Countless bug fixes.

Each Moon carries its own significance and associated traditions across various communities, and Moonlitt is now offering a window into this fascinating world.

Moonlitt now integrates the all-new Liquid Glass design in iOS 26.
The redesigned Moonlitt experience is based on animations, realistic glass effects, organic movement, and natural response to interactions.

What’s changing:

- Introducing Liquid Glass all around the app.
- Redesigned the bottom toolbar for a more compact yet comfortable and intuitive look-and-feel.
- Introducing the Moon view, for a visually stunning and realistic representation of the current Moon’s look, accounting for Libration, Illumination, and Distance from Earth.
- The Info view has been redesigned from the ground up, for a straightforward and more organized experience.
- Added both Astronomical and Astrological constellations according to the Moon’s position.
- The Date Slider has been reworked to make it more accessible: you won’t need to use the Infinite Slide anymore to check the upcoming days.
- We added a Layers switch section inside the bottom toolbar, so make switching between Lunolitt, Map Standard, and Map Satellite more intuitive and visually appealing.
- Animations and visual effects have been tweaked and/or reworked throughout the entire app.
- Lunar Calendar, both inside and outside the app, now always displays the correct Moon look, phases, and Super/Micromoon events.
- All these changes are coming to iOS 18 too! (Liquid Glass is replaced with our previous carefully designed material).
- Moonlitt fully supports Adaptive Windows on iPadOS 26.
- Moonlitt on iPadOS and macOS have been redesigned to make better use of the larger screen real estate and be less intrusive in everyday usage.
- Added support for Controls on Mac and Apple Watch Control Center.
- Huge bump in performance and resource usage, for a smoother and stutter-free experience.
- We fixed so many bugs that we stopped counting, on all platforms and Widgets too.

Moonlitt is also landing on Apple Vision Pro, with a new, native Immersive App, carefully designed for Spatial Computing, complete with stunning Spatial Widgets and an Extra Large Portrait Widget. Moon on Vision Pro is bringing everything you already love about Moonlitt into your surroundings, with much more to come!
