Since launch, we’ve been in a full-on sprint fixing what you noticed, and what you didn’t. Here’s what we’re up to this week:
• If an episode gets updated, your downloaded version keeps up. No more sudden pauses.
• Long titles were getting shy and cutting themselves short. Now they show up loud and proud.
• Podcast descriptions used to panic a little, shaking and stuttering. We calmed them down and told them you're here just to listen.
• Switched over from Overcast? Smooth landing now, no bumps.
• The app used to worry about your data more than you. Now it minds its business and lets you choose how to download your episodes.

In this update, we fixed issues that weren’t shouting in your face, but still whispered just enough to ruin the vibe, so we’ve silenced them.
• Your profile picture used to act up and wouldn’t change. It’s behaving now, so you can freshen up the app with your own photo.
• Exclusive episodes for subscribers were refusing to be deleted after canceling a subscription. We’re not fans of unhealthy attachments, so that’s fixed.
• The app now plays nice with other apps. You can listen to an episode and play something else in the background without needing to pause.
• Episodes that are partially available can now be downloaded from anywhere in the app; perhaps it's time to subscribe to hear the rest.

In this update, we finally put an end to issues that, at first glance, seemed endless. All for a smoother listening experience:
• Auto-play in the queue? Wasn’t so “auto” if you had to open every episode and set the time manually. We fixed it. It’s 100% automatic now
• If you ever tried to manually skip ahead in the queue, the app would just… quit. That’s fixed. The queue now knows its job.
• Ever watched a Socrate episode and heard Abu Malih from Fnjan instead? For you, for Abu Malih, and for Al Jeraisy. That audio mix-up? Gone
• Lost page data every time you went offline? Now you won’t anymore.

• تخيّل أن تشغّل الفيديو في حلقة من سقراط، ويكون الصوت الذي عليها صوت أبومالح من حلقة فنجان؛ مصيبة عليك وعلى أبومالح وعلى عمر الجريسي!
هذا ما كان يحدث سابقًا أحيانًا، لكن بعد التحديث، لن يحدث.

This update includes a few changes that might seem minor — but the folks in charge at Thmanyah had other thoughts. And when they change their minds, so do we. Don’t press us for the reasons.
Here’s what you’ll notice after updating:
- While waiting for pages to load, you’ll no longer be greeted by an endlessly spinning circle. Instead, you’ll see a calmer screen that gets the message across, without making you curse anyone.
- Previously, if you tagged someone in a comment, you might return later to find their name replaced by gibberish. That’s fixed.
- If you like to start a podcast you love from the oldest episode, you’ve probably experienced this: you tap “Oldest,” see ten old episodes… and then the same ones show up again. That’s also fixed — scroll back in time as far as you’d like.

In this update, we've added a few touch-ups here and there.
But let’s be honest, in the tech world, “touch-ups” is kind of a misleading word. Nothing ever really ends, right? We’ll probably be tweaking things forever.
• We finally updated the CarPlay interface!
You’ll now see a screen with the latest episodes from the shows you follow — making it easier to catch up while you’re driving, without having to grab your phone. Please… don’t grab your phone.
• Previously, when you tried to share an episode, book, or article from the content page in the Square, the buttons would… flicker. Suspicious behavior, if you ask us. So we’ve fixed that.
• We also noticed many users weren’t using the transcript feature, and, well… we get it. It had issues.
We’ve smoothed things out quite a bit in this update, and we’re not done yet. More improvements are on the way.

- حدّثنا واجهة التطبيق على «كاربلاي»، أخيرًا صح؟
الآن صارت تظهر لك صفحة فيها جديد حلقات البرامج التي تتابعها، فصار الوصول لها أسهل وأنت في مشاويرك، ولا تحتاج أن تفتح الجوّال وأنت تقود... نرجوك.
- سابقًا إذا حاولت أن تشارك حلقة أو كتاب أو مقالة في الصالة من خلال صفحة المحتوى ستجد أن الأزرار «ترمش»؛ سلوك غريب، وفيه جانب شبهة لمن تأمّل. لذا عدّلنا سلوك الأزرار في هذا التحديث.
- لاحظنا أن كثيرًا من المستخدمين لا يستخدمون ميزة التفريغ النصي، فعدلنا كثيرًا من مشاكله في هذا التحديث، الآن صار أكثر سلاسة.

Our update philosophy? “The product will never be perfect. Launch it, then fix it over time.”
That’s exactly what we did with the redesign earlier this year. We launched it, even though it wasn’t fully done. Now, it’s time to start fixing things.
Here’s what’s new in this update:
In previous versions, sharing an episode in the Square took a few extra steps that made it harder to actually join the conversation. Now, you can choose to share it in the Square straight from the comments section.
Offline experience is smoother than ever. No more “Error!” messages when opening a page without internet. Because really.. what’s wrong with listening to a podcast mid-flight?
We’d love to send you messages that actually matter. And we get it. No one likes spammy apps (we hate that too).
This update lets you choose whether you’d like to hear from us. You can opt in or out, and change your mind anytime in settings.
We fixed a bunch of bugs that required app updates — thanks to your emails at najdah@thmanyah.com.
And we’re not done. If you spot anything else, send it our way.

وهذا ما فعلناه مع تحديث التصميم الجديد في بداية السنة، أطلقنا ولو كان التصميم ناقصًا، والآن وقت الإصلاح مع الوقت.
وهذه أهمّ الإصلاحات والتغييرات التي ستلاحظها في هذا التحديث:
- في التحديثات السابقة كانت مشاركة حلقة في الصالة تتطلّب مشوارًا يمنعك عادةً من المشاركة في الصالة، في هذا التحديث أصبحت تحدد إن كنت تريد مشاركة الحلقة في الصالة من خانة التعليقات مباشرة.
- أصبحت تجربتك في التطبيق أكثر سلاسة بلا إنترنت، ولن تظهر لك رسالة «خطأ!» إذا فتحت صفحة بلا إنترنت؛ أين الخطأ في الاستماع للمحتوى الصوتي في الطيّارة مثلًا؟!
- نودّ مشاركة رسائل نعتقد أنها فعلًا تهمّك، لكننا نفهم الإنزعاج من الشركات التي ترسل رسائل أكثر من اللازم، وننزعج منها كذلك.
الحل أننا سنسألك في هذا التحديث إن كنت تريد أن نرسل إليك رسائل تهمّك، وأنت تقدر تقبل أو ترفض، وتقدر تعدّل قرارك متى غيّرت رأيك ببساطة من الإعدادات.
