Wait, what? Another update, just one month after the last?

Yes, it's true. And we're excited to share the benefits of this update with you.

Coffee Week Berlin invited us to be their official app partner, and Marius put in some serious coding hours to make it happen. After several all-nighters, the new app extension is ready: All events of this year's Coffee Week Berlin will be displayed in the app for everyone who is in Berlin at the time of CWB.

However, that's not all: You can also search the event stages, even if they are not located at a specialty coffee place.

We can't wait for you to experience this with us. If you're in Berlin, we're looking forward to meeting you at one of the satellite events or at the big Coffee Festival on September 26 and 27!

Yes, your eyes are not deceiving you.

This is a new version, released just a month after the last one.

Not because of a bug, but because of new features. No joke.

This is what happened: After Marius finished uploading the latest version last month, which allows Beany Pros to comment on other Pros' check-ins at coffee places, he thought to himself, "Wouldn't it be cool if people could also get notified when other Pros interact with their check-ins and comments? And wouldn't it be cool, too, if Beany Pros could reply to other Pros' comments?" Thus, he sat down and started coding. And here we are, with a new version only one month after the last. Beany and their team think that Marius rocks. We hope you agree.

By the way, we absolutely adore how the Beany Pros among you have taken to liking and commenting on each other's check-ins. You folks are the best. Not a Pro yet? You might want to read this release note until the end.

Over the last few weeks, we have received some intriguing feature requests. Therefore, Marius sat down to implement them right away:
• Beany Pros can now not only like other Beany Pros' check-ins at coffee shops, but they can also comment on them. We look forward to reading some exhilarating discussions!
• We are starting our newsletter "Spilling the Beans." Please sign up for it in the app to stay up to date with the latest developments at Beany.
• Again, Marius addressed some minor bugs and improved the design, as well as security features.

Three months ago, we launched a completely re-designed version of Beany. Since then, we have gained thousands of new users (and are totally wowed by that).

We also got some requests that we are happy to integrate in this new version:
• You can now also submit roasters in the app. (“…. More”)
• You can switch between light and dark modes. (“Settings”)
• We also fixed some minor bugs, improved certain design features, and bought Marius a coffee because he accomplished all of these fantastic things.

Wow, this went fast. We released version 3.0.0 only on Saturday, and when we woke up from the release party, we found many great ideas from our users, you, in our inbox. Some were really easy to implement, so we went to work immediately. Also, we are stunned and super stoked that so many of you already signed up for our Beany Pro membership. Thank you so much for your trust. We promise not to disappoint you!

So, here we go with the list of what we worked on and fixed today:

Some of you (but thankfully not everyone) had trouble signing up for our awesome Beany Pro subscription. Marius found the bug and fixed it. Signing up to Beany Pro should not work smoothly.

Some of you experienced bumps while creating coffee shop lists. Marius worked on that tiny little bugger, too. By the way, it is super cool that so many of our new Beany Pros did a deep dive into the new features right away. You all rock!

Wow. We have waited for a long time until we could finally write this changelog.

New Name
Where to Drink Coffee is now Beany. We realized that the best name for our app was in front of our eyes all along: The name of our beloved mascot, Beany. So, let's all give a warm welcome to Beany!

Completely Redeveloped
Beany is now a native iOS app, developed in Swift. This redesign is a result of your feedback and our commitment to providing the best user experience. Your role in shaping Beany's future is invaluable, and we're excited to share these improvements with you.

Beany Pro
All of the Where to Drink Coffee app functions are still free on the Beany app. They will remain free for everyone. On top of that, we are introducing Beany Pro. By subscribing to Beany Pro, you get access to several new features.

1 - You can rate the coffee and service at every specialty coffee shop you visit, thus contributing to a shop's overall rating. You have read correctly: We are transferring the authority to rate shops to the Beany community.

2 - You can follow your friends, see where they had coffee and how they liked it.

3 - You can recommend shops by creating, curating, and sharing lists with everyone, no matter whether they use Beany or not.

We are excited about these new features and hope you will be too. We are trying to keep the price for the subscription plans as low and accessible as possible. Where to Drink Coffee is now a native iOS app based on Swift. This re-design from scratch brings you significantly better performance, user experience, and stability.

The overview map now shows you the best route to each cafe nearby. The map displayed on a coffee shop's page also gives you an estimate of how long it will take you to get there on foot.
