    The motivation of co-developing Raining Bell aims at engaging cross-cutting synergies of public-private partnership on applying real-time radar monitoring technique for altering rains or thunderstorms to come. The APP takes advantage of mobile devices to display easy-to-understand graphic animation converted from professional information. By using signals received by GPS chip in any mobile device, Raining Bell will provide location-based animated information and instant alters according to intensities of near-by radar echoes.
    This APP is under evolution for better performance. Through methodologies of data assimilation technique and radar reflectivity extrapolation, it integrates most observations of radar stations in Taiwan and FORMOSAT-7 Radio Occultation. Users can check the real-time radar echo in graphic mode and receive alters of probability of rains in coming hour.
    The radar reflectivity extrapolation method is developed by Prof. Kao-Shen Chung in the Dept. of Atmospheric Sciences of the National Central University (NCU). The key collaborators include Prof. Pay-Liam Lin in the Dept. of Atmospheric Sciences of NCU and Prof. Jong-Dao Jou in the Dept. of Atmospheric Sciences of the National Taiwan University. The integrated information platform is developed and operated by the National Science and Technology Center for Disaster Reduction. The graphic engine is coded by ThinkYes Technology Co., Ltd..

    应用描述

    The purpose of this software development is to implement real-time radar monitoring technology for meteorological services through industry-university cooperation. Design the information of professional weather web pages into APP software that is convenient for mobile devices to download and use, and add the function of mobile phone push notifications through the mobile device's positioning system. This is an experimental test product that integrates the radar observation data of the whole station, and uses the latest Fuwei-7 satellite observation data. Through the data assimilation method and the radar echo extension method, the real-time radar echo early warning technology is developed, which can provide the future Rainfall trend information within 1 hour. This product is for research and display use only. Please refer to the Meteorological Bureau's announcement for actual weather forecast information.
